The brightly colored campaign poster as a comic narrative is a Genevan specialty. Exem (b. 1951) is among the main practitioners of this style. In 2016, the planned expansion and remodeling of Geneva’s Musée d’art et d’histoire met with vehement protests. A glass extension by Jean Nouvel was to occupy the courtyard, and the art collection to be expanded to include the collection of patron Jean-Claude Gandur. Exem caricatures Nouvel as an egomaniacal star architect who puts his own reputation before the protection of the museum’s art collection.
