Ralph Schraivogel (b. 1960) is the designer behind a few eye-catching posters for the African film festival, CinemAfrica, which since 1987 has been presenting films produced on the continent. The zebra pattern of his posters marks them as part of a series, and yet each has its own unique look. The 1997 poster is perhaps the most radical in terms of graphic design: without the help of a computer, graphic structures, typography, and film images are interwoven to create a subtle composition.
