The tool manufacturer Facom and the printing ink producer Brancher first approached Atelier Frutiger in the 1960s with other design commissions before realizing some time later the potential of a custom typeface. Both ordered an entire corporate alphabet. Facom already had a wordmark to serve as formal orientation. And for Brancher, the viscous printing ink and equally viscous honey served as a source of inspiration.
