The London company Liberty & Co. (est. 1875) initially specialized in importing Asian art but soon began to bring its own clothing and home textiles onto the market. Liberty worked in the 1890s with designers such as William Morris and other representatives of the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements, and is closely associated with those styles as a result. The two pillow covers with their ornamental floral design are exemplary of the style spread by Liberty & Co.
