Food packaging is meant to be a feast for the eyes. Serving primarily as protection, the outer wrapping thus tries to convey the form, color, texture, and taste of its contents in an enticing fashion. Photographs of beans, pretzel sticks, or apricots make the packaging seem transparent. But the flavor of milk or liverwurst can also be conveyed in an abstract manner, for example as a color contrast.
