Cuba developed its own poster tradition after 1959. Artists could make their own personal contribution to the revolution with their state-sponsored film posters. They no longer promoted US films but rather European and local productions. In the Cuban film poster, inspiration from international avant-garde art is melded with national traditions. Reproduced using screen printing, these posters still fascinate us today, especially due to their luminous colors.
